overview.
SACL PMS is a live production system for QC inspection and QR-based part tracking in automotive manufacturing. It generates QR codes for parts, drives scan-based quality-control workflows for real-time defect logging, supports batch tracking and detailed production reporting, and keeps full audit trails for traceability and compliance.
technical implementation.
Spring Boot Backend
A layered Spring Boot API (controllers, DTOs, repositories) with a dedicated controller per QC register — impact tests, micro-tensile tests, microstructure analysis, rejected records — plus a reporting module.
Security
Spring Security with hashed passwords, CORS configuration and a global exception handler so the shop-floor clients get consistent, safe error responses.
Deployment
Data lives in MySQL; the backend is containerised with Docker and has been running live at the plant since 2024.
key features.
- QR code generation for every part and batch
- Scan-based QC workflows with real-time defect logging
- Impact, micro-tensile and microstructure test registers
- Batch tracking and production reports
- Role-based authentication for inspectors and admins
- Full audit trail for traceability and compliance
challenges & solutions.
Challenge: Paper QC registers made it slow to trace a defective part back to its batch.
Solution: Every part carries a QR code linked to its batch and inspection records, so a single scan brings up its full history.
